ON: “Should”
Let’s talk about “should.”
We “should” be doing this, we “should” be working there, we “should” be with them. Why? Because our friend said we should, our parents said we should, our boss said we should. Should, should, should.
By saying “should,” we are implying that something is already wrong. Too often, we take the job or move to the city or go to the school that we feel like we “should,” whether we actually wanted to or not.
A life of “shoulds” is not a life that is yours. If you catch yourself feeling like you “should” do something, question why you feel that way. Who told you that you “should” do that? Or, why do you feel like you “should” be this way?
It often has to do with image. How something looks — to our family members, our friends, society. Maybe you made a choice because it looked good and was consistent with the image of yourself that you present to the world. But just because something looks good does not mean that it feels good. Your body, your mind, your soul knows. Your intuition is your guide, and your emotions and feelings are your teachers. If something does not feel good, it is not for you. Our natural state of existence is wellbeing, and anything other than that is not for us.
If your life feels good, it will look good to you, and that is all that matters. Live a life that belongs to you.
xx,
